I have several Syma x1s and they rock!
By Steve Vankast
I wanted to buy this one because of the bright green blades but they are sold out. I have trouble seeing the ones with the white blades when they get far away. All the X1's I have are identical except for the bodies which doesn't matter because I take them off to make them faster and fly much better into the wind. I find taping all the exposed wires and the top of the copter under the body with duct tape keeps them from getting smashed up. I also glue in the motors and inside of the carbon rods where they meet the body with an all purpose glue that dries kind of rubbery. This keeps them from falling apart when they crash. Whenever I fly the craft I always use masking tape to keep the battery from falling out. Works like a charm. I've crashed it so hard I've bent the blades. I've straightened them dozens of times and the copter still flies stable. Did break one of the carbon arms on one bird that I now use for parts. Can't wait till the 10, 600MAH batteries I ordered from Ebay arrive so I will never have to wait for them to charge

Excellent value for the money
By ts
I was considering building my own quad-copter, but I wanted to learn how to fly a cheap one first because I was sure I'd crash it a lot... and I have. I'm very surprised at the durability of this toy. I just slammed it into concrete from a nose dive, almost straight down from about 20' in the air and only the battery fell out! It worked best for me indoors, outdoors at greater distances away, it seems to have some radio reception issues. The build quality of the radio is lower quality than the copter itself, but it's what I would expect given the cost. The charger for the batteries is very cheap and plugs into a USB port. An AC adapter isn't included, but I just use the one that came with my cell phone so I don't have to plug it into a computer. It surprised me again with how fast it can recharge the battery, which lasts a good amount of time flying indoors. When I was starting out I would actually get tired of trying not to hit stuff and turn it off before the battery died! The radio as two modes of operation, low and high input sensitivity. I didn't think low mode was responsive enough so i used high mode even when starting out. The radio automatically starts in low mode so I have to remember to change the mode as soon as I turn it on.

Bottome Line: I've played with the older design toy helicopters that have the two props over each-other, and was disappointed. This thing blows those out of the water. I would recommend this to anyone. Just read the directions first! There is an extra step needed to calibrate the gyro.

TX is MODE 4 !!! not MODE 2
By psguardian
The x1 is insanely durable. I got tangled in a tree 40ft above the street & went dead stick for the fall. The battery ejected & x1 is fine.

If you never plan on going past this toy use the stock transmitter so you can have the flip button (which is kinda fun). If, however, you fly or plant to fly larger multi-rotors on a MODE 2 transmitter toss this TX in the closet & bind it to a turnigy/fly sky 9x radio module. Trying to bounce between MODE 4 on this TX & MODE 2 on your other multi rotors will just cause you heart ache & crash bills.

Mine came with spare blades as they all do (shame on you for touting that as bonus equipment). It also came with a 2nd battery, unfortunately it was NOT the 600mah as advertised, it was only another stock 350mah... Still two 5-6min batteries are better than one. There will be some 1s 600mah stick lipos in my next HOBBY KING order.
